Job Description
Responsible for reviewing, tracking, and monitoring legislation that impacts products and processes. The position is responsible for updating the VP of Legal & Compliance with timely analysis and summaries of new legislation/regulations affecting our product portfolio and business. The position also assists in implementing changes to consumer contracts to comply with legislation/regulations on products. Responsible for paralegal support related to litigation, mediation, arbitration, and responses for consumer complaints. Responsible for submitting consumer forms to lenders and regulatory agencies for approval. The position is also responsible for renewing and maintaining company licensing. Assist VP Legal & Compliance with legal research and projects.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
  • Review, monitor, track, and report compliance/legislative changes by participating in industry association conference calls, and by researching Department of Insurance, Department of Banking and State Legislative websites.
  • Utilize Lexis Nexis and other sanctioned legislative research tools for legislative research.
  • Thoroughly review all relevant bills, GAPA/SCIC updates, and Department of Insurance Opinions and other similar documents, on a regular basis and provide written summaries to VP Legal & Compliance.
  • Provide accurate legislative analysis and summaries to VP Legal & Compliance as new legislation is implemented or existing legislation changes.
  • Assist management in decision making processes regarding actions necessary to comply with legislative and regulatory changes, including creation of new consumer forms or modification of existing consumer forms.
  • Provide customer service to internal and external customers by providing accurate legislative and compliance information in a timely manner.
  • Provide paralegal support related to litigation, mediation, arbitration, and responses for consumer complaints.
  • Provide assistance to internal or external auditors in compliance reviews.
  • File forms with appropriate lenders and regulatory agencies for approval.
  • Renew company licenses on timely basis; prepare applications for any new licensing the company needs to operate in a state.
  • Maintain documentation on processes pertaining to lender approvals.
  • Verify that all regulatory policies and procedures have been communicated as requested by Legal.
  • Provide assistance (backup) to compliance team.
  • Assist Legal with letters, research items as needed.
  • Participate in Company and Departmental projects.
  • Store and retrieve Compliance related documents, as necessary.
  • Complete ad hoc special analysis, reviews, and projects as assigned.
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
  • BachelorÔ s Degree: Preferred
  • Paralegal Certificate (state of Florida): Required
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience as a paralegal.
  • A minimum of 2-5 years of industry related (automotive industry and F&I products) compliance experience is preferred. Ability to interpret regulations and laws. State regulatory research experience.
Computer Skills:
  • MS Office, specifically with Word, Excel, and Outlook. SERFF, Sircon, NIPR, and Lexis-Nexis.
Certifications & Licenses:
  • Agreeable to securing Notary Public License if requested by Company.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
